Youth@The Lounge provision
What we offer:
Youth @ The Lounge offers 4 weekly sessions (term time) to young people from Year 5 upwards, on a Tuesday and Thursday evening at The Lounge Community Café, in the heart of Alvechurch.
We also run off-site multiactivity days at Blackwell Adventure during the Easter and Summer Holidays.
Youth Diner sessions – A social opportunity where youth get to hang out with their friends, play games and have fun. Youth get a hot snack and refreshments and can purchase additional treats from the dedicated tuck shop ran by the youth.
These sessions run from straight from school till 5.00pm.
Year 5 – meets on a Tuesday 3.15 – 5.00
Year 6 – meet on Thursday 3.15 – 5.00
The diner sessions require pre-booking & payment in advance for the upcoming ½ term (£3.00 per weekly session) – (Booking forms are on Youth@The Lounge Facebook page or can be sent via email.)
Youth Club – These sessions offer a drop in/ pay as you go option (£3.00 per session) for youth to engage with others, build relationships, take part and try different weekly activities.
Year 5 – Year 8 meet on a Tuesday 5.30 – 7.30
Year 8+ meet on a Thursday 5.30 – 7.30
Activities include: musical activities: Glamba drumming, arts and crafts, cooking/baking, team building and outdoor games at the local parks.

All sessions are planned and run by a qualified Youth Worker with the support of an Assistant Youth Worker and Volunteers. All staff/volunteers have undergone an enhanced DBS check and actively take part in regular safeguarding training, first aid and further cpd.

Holiday Activity Sessions:
We run multi activity days on selected dates over the Easter and Summer holidays at Blackwell Adventure Outdoor Activity Centre, we are very lucky to have this amazing facility just around the corner, offering a whole host of different activities from archery, climbing, lazer tag and many other adrenaline fuelled activities. Community events: We like to get the youth involved with local community events such as The Scarecrow Festival competition (winning with our Harry Potter display in 2022) making and selling Sweet Cones at Picnic in The Park. In Sept 2022, a group of 8 Young people, staff and volunteers from Youth@The Lounge took part in ‘The Lounge Lock Challenge’, on the Community boat Cecilia, with crew and volunteers from Worcestershire, Birmingham and Droitwich Canal Society (WBDCS). They completed the Tardebigge Lock Flight, the longest flight in the country, starting at Top Lock at Stoke Prior to Bottom Lock at Tardebigge, 30 locks, spread over 2 and a quarter miles, then returned back to Alvechurch. The Youth were responsible for opening and closing the locks, steering the boat and working together as a team. They had a great day out and a certificate for their achievement. £250 in sponsorship was raised from family and friends, to support the Charity: Save the Children Ukraine. We really hope to be able to run this trip again – so watch this space.

We also take on Duke of Edinburgh Volunteers as part of the award criteria for volunteering within the different youth sessions.
