Youth Club Hires It's Own Workers

Three youth workers have been hired by the new youth club in Alvechurch, with youngsters helping to decide what sort of people they wanted and even being involved in the interview process.img_7781web

As a result, Darren Venness, Ed Little and Sarah Wilkinson start work with the club, which has been named “The Lounge”, on October 4. A club logo was created by the young people over the summer, with help of designers at BHMG Marketing in Birmingham.

Now The Lounge is just waiting for the lease on its premises in the centre of Alvechurch to be finalised, but if all goes well they hope to have the keys on November 1.

Management committee member Kate Van der Plank told The Village: “This is a really exciting step forward for us. The new  club will be in the style of an internet café and the young people will be involved in all aspects of designing the venue.”

The club will be running again on Thursday evenings at the Social Club from Thursday October 7 and will be visiting other clubs to get ideas for their own big move.
Kate said they always needed more helpers and support and anyone who wanted to help could call her on: 07798 855246.
