Mental Health Awareness Week - May 12 to 18

Pink Elephant is offering a series of wellbeing workshops for young people and their parents.

One in four people experience mental health illness and it is commonly known that most mental health problems begin in adolescence.

Local ladies Tracy, Emily and Leanne launched Pink Elephant this year because they understand just how difficult the teenage years are and how important, as well as challenging it is to be a parent or carer.

Children, young people and families experience many different problems and you may recognise or have experienced any from the few mentioned here:

 

 

* Anxiety, stress, depression, low self-esteem, relationship difficulties

* Eating disorders, sleep difficulties, trauma/abuse, anger issues

* Bereavement, bullying, divorce, exam stress, autism, self-harm

* Older children/siblings leaving home, moving to a new school, new college, sixth form or university

Wednesdays 7pm to 9pm, The Lounge, Alvechurch

May 14 At Exam time

May 21 Managing stress, anxiety and fear

June 4 Managing pressures and expectations

June 11 ‘Supporting your child’ through family/ relationship breakdown

June 25 With awareness of mental health issues and self-harm

July 2 Through family/relationship breakdown

July 9 Through bullying

July 16 To be proud, unique and who they want to be

Preparing For:

July 23 Childhood to adulthood

Aug 13 Primary to Secondary school transition

Aug 20 Leaving home /going to university

Sessions cost £15 per person or £20 for two people

Pink Elephant can help you all to feel more confident by providing parents, carers and young people experienced support to learn new coping skills and strategies; as well as a safe space to share experiences with others in the same situation.

Managing stress and anxiety can help students to achieve their true potential at school, college and university.

Starting in Mental Health Awareness Week, these workshops are designed to be creative, non-judgemental, engaging and enjoyable for everyone!
