We would like to say a big thank you to all that supported us at the recent Picnic In The Park.
It was a fantasic day with amazing entries for the Bake Off all of which help bump up the money raised.
The Youth provided a some messy fun with their slime stand and the phot booth provided a popular hit.
Our volunteers did us proud with their hard work throughout the entire event, selling food and drinks, to a very apprecitive public.
All the money raised will go back into our youth and community work, helping make the Alvechurch parish a truly wonderful place to live.
Many of you will be aware that several candidates for the forthcoming elections are mentioning The Lounge in their promotional literature.
We would like to state that although some of the candidates have been either directly or indirectly in supporting The Lounge, we feel it is right that we make it clear that we, as an inclusive charity, do not endorse any of the candidates in the June elections. Any expressions of support from any members of The Lounge, either paid staff of volunteers, is purely their own opinion and not that of ACT or The Lounge
Once again we are holding The Lounge Bake Off.
Everyone is encouraged to enter their bakes for this years Great Lounge Bake Off, taking place at the Picnic in the Park on May 28th!
You can enter in three different categories – Best Overall Cake, Best Decorated and Best Taste. There is also a separate category for best Junior Baker (up to 16yrs).
We appreciate whatever home-baked goodies you can make; so cakes, biscuits or cupcakes are welcome.
It is free to enter, just turn up on the day between 10.00am and 12.00 noon and bring your bake to the Lounge tent - where we will register you and also be selling tea & coffee.
There are prizes for the winners from each category, which will be announced during the afternoon. We will also sell off the cakes to raise extra funds for youth at the Lounge.
Please bring a cake - even if you don't wish to enter - we really appreciate any cakes or biscuits to sell.
All the money from the cakes you bake support the Lounge. Thanks to the sale of drinks and everyone's baking efforts last year we raised over £1,000 for the Lounge.
Did you know you can buy loaf of bread AND support the Lounge? How easy is that?
Once again, The Lounge will be a feature stand at Alvechurch's Picnic in the Park.
We will be providing food and beverages and the youth will be holding their own "special" stand. Drop down on the day, have a chat about what we do, enjoy the food and drink and support your very local charity.
You can find more about the event at
or watch for updates on our Facebook page.
Failing that, just turn up and enjoy the atmosphere.
Here April's Lottery Results:
1st - Jim Parker
2nd - Jayne Wisneiwski
3rd - Mark Price
Thank you to the participants of the lottery which generated £85 for the Lounge in April!!
We also want to say a big thank you those lottery winners who have donated their winnings back into the Lounge - it is greatly appreciated and very kind
One year on from its emergency meeting hear how The Lounge has managed to survive and the role you can play in its future.
In a relaxed setting, with canapes provided, there will be two sessions..
7pm and 8pm....in each session we’ll share:-
- a brief history of the charity
- introduce some of the volunteers who run The Lounge
- understand the steps taken last year to save The Lounge
- hear how funding and your donations are used for the community
- listen to the great progress made with our Youth work
And....once we've inspired you with our work they'll be a chance to ask how you can contribute to the future of our community charity.
So if you've ever wanted to learn more, have enjoyed one of our breakfasts, have read our posts, have played The Lounge Lottery, if your children use the Youth Diner or if you want to help sustain a community charity right in the heart of our village come along.
Please let us know if you are coming and which time (7pm or 8pm) so we can cater....
See you there...
With The Lounge's youth nights and diner sessions becoming every more popular, we are once again asking for people to come and help out. You need not have background in youth work and there are always other experienced people around, including our new full time youth worker, so you need not feel out of your depth.
The volunteers need not commit to coming every week, although you are most welcome to do so should you wish, but if you would be willing to go on a rota or provide cover for holidays or in case of emergencies, it means we can run the sessions to their maximum potential, giving the youth the service that we have striven to achieve since The Lounges inception.
Thanks for your continued support
The Lounge Team
